The Stewards interviewed P.J. Smullen, rider of Postulation (USA), concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(e), in that he hit the horse other than down the shoulder or on the hind quarters and having considered his record, cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.

The Stewards interviewed R.P. Cleary, rider of Never Again, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f), in that he used the whip with excessive force and frequency and having considered his record, suspended him for four race days.

The Stewards interviewed M.C. Hussey, rider of Extreme Appeal, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f), in that he used his whip with excessive frequency, and having considered his record, suspended him for one race day.

The Stewards informed D. K. Weld, trainer that Sight Hound (USA), would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.
